| Okay, I really need to give some updates. Since May I have been looking for a job in teaching and have been taking certification classes to get my teacher's certification for Texas to teach grades 4-8 in english, reading, language arts, social studies, math, and science. My certification is titled: Generalist 4-8. That means I can teach any subject in those grades. It is really the most versatile...I can teach in either elementary, intermediate, or jr. high schools. I passed my test back in June and spent all summer looking for a job. I also have been working 40 hours a week at UT Arlington helping with freshman orientation as well as taking two graduate classes this summer. As of this coming thursday, I will have ONLY ONE CLASS LEFT TO MY MASTER'S DEGREE IN LIBRARY SCIENCE! I am very excited! Sadly, I wont be able to finish my degree until next summer because... I was hired this week at an elementary school teaching 5th grade math and science. I am now a 5th grade teacher. While this may seem like a random digression from my library degree, I want to be a school librarian, and in Texas that means I must teach for two years ("must have two successful years as a classroom teacher") before I can become a school librarian. Therefore, not only do I need a master's degree, I must also teach. The cool thing about being a teacher is that I will finally make a little money. Not as much as some of my friends who are lawyers, dentists, or engineers (the girls in my biblestudy are all VERY well educated!) but enough to actually pay the bills. I have been a student for so long, I dont remember what a few extra dollars can do. I plan on going shopping to celebrate my first paycheck. What else??? Still single (a few prospects but nothing yet), it's final's week this week (I am VERY busy), my sister got a job as a 1st grade teacher (we will both be teaching this coming year - weird), my friend Ashley might be moving to Dallas (*smile*), restaurant week is next week ($35 dollar meal at a restaurant that is WAY more expensive than that), and that's about it.
